The exact definition of what constitutes the American Southwest varies, but often its draw by state borders. However, for me, the Southwest is demarked by the arid regions that make up the Great Basic and Range and the Colorado Plateau. This includes most of Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, as well as Eastern California, and western Colorado.
The area is characterized by arid landscapes and spectacular canyons, arches, bridges, and other rock formations.
